Golden Mustard and Vermilion Handwoven Pure Silk Kancheepuram Vairaoosi Saree with Kodi Zari Border
Golden mustard glows like fresh manjal beneath a warm afternoon sun, while vermilion lines run through it with the liveliness of kumkum. The Vairaoosi stripes are fine and assured, opening into a magnificent red-and-gold border.
❖ Made to order, not off a shelf. This saree spent roughly 20 active days on the loom, in addition to dyeing, threading and finishing.

In this Vairaoosi saree, the body is made of closely ordered golden-mustard and red stripes, interwoven with thin zari filaments that catch the light between the coloured threads. Regularly placed Chen buttas add points of gold within the disciplined linear weave. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 20 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.
Border: The border brings the richness of vermilion red and gold together through a wide zari field, ornamental kodi buttas and Banarasi-inspired floral motifs. Its layered rows feel like the carved floral borders of Kanchipuram temple stonework, full of detail yet firmly ordered.
Pallu: The copper-red pallu is luminous with an intricate zari lattice, woven with Rudhraksham motif details that give its surface a textured rhythm. As the folds gather over the shoulder, the fine gold pattern catches the light in a way that contrasts beautifully with the striped body.
Styling: Let the warm colour lead with a red silk blouse, antique gold jewellery and a low bun with jasmine. For an elegant contrast, try a deep maroon blouse and drape the pallu open to show the lattice and broad zari ornament.
Especially fitting for Vijayadashami, Diwali celebrations, temple visits, wedding ceremonies and festive family gatherings.
