Fresh Green and Ivory Handwoven Pure Silk Lightweight Kanchipuram Kattam Saree with Seer Pallu

Fresh Green and Ivory Handwoven Pure Silk Lightweight Kanchipuram Kattam Saree with Seer Pallu

Fresh green against ivory, like tender leaves in the first light of the day. Broad, clean Kattam checks give this lightweight Kanchipuram a cheerful rhythm, while gold zari catches the edges with a soft, warm gleam.

The lightweight silk body is arranged in alternating green and ivory Kattam checks, where the measured squares give the fabric its airy, graphic character. The deep green contrast gathers the eye at the edge. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living.

Border: A deep green edge is finished with a broad warm-gold zari band, including fine zigzag and closely spaced line details.

Pallu: The deep green Seer pallu is arranged in long, measured gold zari lines and broader shining vertical bands, ending in a gold border.

Styling: An ivory blouse makes the checks feel fresh and composed; a forest-green blouse gives a more traditional contrast. Add small antique-gold earrings, a slim stack of bangles and a jasmine braid. Keep the pleats narrow so the checked rhythm reads clearly against the green pallu.

Occasions: Navratri temple mornings, family pujas, cultural gatherings and festive daytime occasions.

What does Kattam mean in this saree?
Kattam describes the regular checked arrangement on its green and ivory silk body.
What makes this green Kanchipuram distinctive?
Its fresh leaf-green and ivory checks are balanced by a deep-green Seer pallu and warm-gold zari bands.
How is a Seer pallu different from a heavily patterned pallu?
Here the pallu is composed of orderly, lengthwise zari bands rather than an all-over figure-filled design.
Which blouse would complement the green and ivory checks?
An ivory blouse with fine green piping or a plain deep-green silk blouse would complement this saree.
Is a blouse piece included?
Yes. The 6.3-metre saree includes a 0.8-metre running blouse piece; Idam Living also offers custom blouse stitching.
