Forest Green Handwoven Pure Silk Kancheepuram Varisaipet Saree with Vadamalli Purple Border

Forest Green Handwoven Pure Silk Kancheepuram Varisaipet Saree with Vadamalli Purple Border

A forest after the rains beside the colour of Vadamalli flowers: deep green silk meets a vivid purple border, each bringing out the richness of the other. The fine gold Kalam buttas appear like scattered light on shaded leaves.

❖ Woven in Kanchipuram over 16 days on the loom, using Silk Mark certified pure silk, by artisans who have handed this craft down through generations.

Varisaipet layers the border in successive ornamental registers rather than a single uninterrupted band. On this deep pachai silk, small golden Kalam paisleys make room for the stronger Vadamalli border, whose measured geometry recalls the colourful borders of vintage Kanchipuram textiles. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 16 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.

Border: A vivid Vadamalli magenta-purple Varisaipet border built from stacked Mayil Kann, Thazhampoo Reku and Rudraksham registers, with alternating peacock and circular zari motifs in the broad central ornament.

Pallu: A vibrant purple pallu worked with long gold zari columns, densely patterned ornamental bands, small grid-like woven geometry, chakra medallions and peacock motifs, edged in deep purple.

Styling: Let the Vadamalli pallu lead with a matching blouse and understated antique-gold jhumkas. For a quieter approach, choose a deep-green blouse with slim purple piping. A loose bun with fresh flowers suits Diwali gatherings, evening weddings and Indian classical music performances.

Frequently bought together

How does Varisaipet appear in this green and Vadamalli saree?
The border is organised into stacked bands of different zari motifs, rather than one continuous design. Its repeated rows frame the forest-green body in vivid Vadamalli purple.
Are the Kalam paisleys woven across the entire green body?
Small gold Kalam paisley buttas are scattered across the deep-green field. They are spaced apart, leaving the silk colour visible between motifs.
Why is the border more striking than the body?
The green body is comparatively quiet, while the purple border combines Mayil Kann, Thazhampoo Reku, Rudraksham, peacock and circular zari details. This contrast brings the ornament into focus when pleated.
Could Idam Living create a coordinated blouse in Vadamalli purple?
You can request a custom blouse using the vivid purple as a colour reference, subject to fabric availability. Share your measurements, neckline preference and any inspiration photographs with Idam Living.
Is this saree handwoven and Silk Mark certified?
It is offered as handwoven pure mulberry silk from the Kanchipuram weaving tradition, and Idam Living provides its Silk Mark Authorised User certificate link on the product page. Silk Mark relates to silk authenticity, not to the individual motif design.
