Emerald Olive Green & Rani Pink Handwoven Pure Silk Kancheepuram Zari Kattam Saree with Sona Rupa Buttas

Emerald Olive Green & Rani Pink Handwoven Pure Silk Kancheepuram Zari Kattam Saree with Sona Rupa Buttas

The green of lush mango leaves after the first monsoon rain, touched by the deeper undertones of olive silk. This beautiful Kancheepuram glows with an earthy emerald richness, the kind of colour that appears to change gently with the light.

❖ This saree carries 16 days of loom work behind it, handwoven in Kanchipuram by artisan families continuing a generations-old craft.

The entire body is brought to life by an intricate Zari Kattam weave. Fine gold zari lines intersect across the green silk in an exceptionally precise checked arrangement. Within this beautiful framework appear tiny Sona Rupa buttas, alternating in gold and silver. Their little metallic highlights are like scattered drops of sunlight and moonlight resting upon the silk, giving the checked body an enchanting sense of depth.

The contrast border is a vibrant rani pink, its brilliance accentuating the green body. Exquisitely detailed peacock motifs are worked into the ornate gold zari border, accompanied by richly patterned Banarasi-inspired butta ornamentation. The result is an interesting meeting of decorative influences, expressed through the distinctive handwoven character of a Kanchipuram silk.

The pallu unfolds into a wonderful expanse of ornament. Traditional peacocks, Yaanai, flowing floral Kodi and Mayil Kann patterns are intricately arranged across the densely worked zari. Fine geometric details sit alongside the more fluid forms of birds, elephants and foliage, creating a composition of exceptional richness.

The colours are particularly striking: the serenity of olive green, the joyous brilliance of rani pink and the delicate interplay of gold and silver. A beautifully expressive Kanchipuram, both richly traditional and wonderfully fresh.

Styling note: A rani-pink silk blouse brings out the beautiful contrast. Pair with antique gold or two-tone jewellery for Diwali celebrations, festive temple gatherings and wedding occasions.
