Deep Emerald Green and Gold Zari Kattam Pure Silk Kanchipuram Saree

As deep and serene as leaves in a rain-washed temple garden, this maragatha, or emerald-green, silk takes its colour from the heart of nature. The gold zari lights up against the green like evening sun filtering through dense foliage. Thick, closely woven and lustrous, the pure silk carries the substantial presence of a classic Kanchipuram.

The Silk & Body

Fine zari kattam checks trace a disciplined gold grid across the dark green silk. Within the checks sit recurring Gandaberunda-inspired buttas, their sculptural bird forms offering a heritage-rich counterpoint to the crisp linear weave.

The Border

A wide, radiant gold zari border is crowned by delicate Mayil Kann (peacock-eye) detailing and worked with tightly interlaced geometric zari patterns. The shimmering lower border is grounded by a narrow green selvedge.

The Pallu

The richly ornamented emerald pallu features an expansive gold zari grid of medallion-like motifs, framed by finer temple-inspired pattern bands and a broad dense-gold zari ending. The deep green silk remains visible between motifs, lending depth to the brilliance.

How to Style It

Style with emerald, antique gold, muted bronze or warm ivory; complement with temple gold or pearl jewellery.
