Deep Plum Maroon Handwoven Pure Silk Lightweight Kancheepuram Saree with Kamalam Mayil Buttas

Deep Plum Maroon Handwoven Pure Silk Lightweight Kancheepuram Saree with Kamalam Mayil Buttas

Deep plum-maroon, dark as the polished wood of an old Kanchi doorway, glows under a web of antique-gold zari. Kamalam and Mayil details lend the textile a quiet sense of ceremony, and its deep border catches the light with every fold.

This lightweight Kanchipuram uses a structured Kattam-inspired zari arrangement punctuated by small Kamalam and Mayil details. The proportions and the play of gold against maroon give it the look of older ceremonial silks without losing its wearable ease. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living.

Border: A broad maroon-gold border with elaborate Mayil motifs framed by ornamental bands, giving the edge a strong antique-gold presence.

Pallu: A richly composed Seer-style pallu combining fine zari lattice sections, lengthwise zari registers and ornamental motifs.

Styling: Wear it with a dark chocolate or deep maroon blouse, perhaps finished with tiny antique-gold thread motifs. A matte-gold choker, traditional studs and a neatly pinned pallu will balance the intricate border. If you prefer embroidery, keep it to the sleeves so the zari remains the focus.

Occasions: Wedding ceremonies, Navratri evenings, classical music events and festive occasions.
