Deep Crimson Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjeevaram Butta Saree with Rani Pink Zari Border

Deep Crimson Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjeevaram Butta Saree with Rani Pink Zari Border

Deep crimson silk gives this Kanjeevaram a saturated, lacquered richness, but the scale remains restrained. Tiny gold zari buttas float across the body, while a narrow Rani-pink edge introduces the brighter colour gradually before the pallu opens fully into pink and gold.

❖ Handwoven in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu — this saree spent 16 days on the loom, woven by artisan families who have practiced this craft for generations.

Woven in the Butta tradition, the crimson body carries a measured scattering of petite round zari motifs, allowing the silk to retain a broad uninterrupted field of colour. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 16 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.

Border: A small Rani-pink border brings a bright line of colour to the deep red body. Compact gold zari medallion detailing keeps the edge decorative without increasing its visual weight.

Pallu: The pallu is the dramatic counterpoint. Vivid Rani pink carries a dense fine zari field, narrow linear registers and repeating rounded zari medallions. The concentration of zari makes it glow differently from the calmer crimson body.

Styling: Use a Rani-pink blouse to heighten the contrast or a deep crimson blouse for a more continuous field of colour. Antique gold earrings, a small bindi and fresh jasmine will keep the styling grounded in the saree's traditional scale and colour.

Especially suited to Diwali, Karthigai Deepam, winter weddings, receptions, temple gatherings, cultural programs and special occasions.

Slight color variations due to screen and lighting; daylight photos/videos available on request.

What defines the Butta design on this saree?
The crimson body is scattered with petite round gold zari motifs rather than covered with a dense all-over weave. This gives the saree a quieter body and lets the pallu carry the greater concentration of ornament.
How does the Rani-pink border change the look of the red body?
It introduces a brighter pink note without taking over the saree because the border itself is narrow. The full intensity of the Rani pink is reserved for the pallu.
What stands out most when this saree is draped?
The pallu. Its dense zari texture, repeated rounded bands and vivid pink ground create a much richer surface than the restrained body.
Can I choose a custom blouse for this saree?
Yes. Custom blouse stitching is part of the current Pure Silks offer. A blouse can draw from either the deep crimson body or the brighter Rani-pink border depending on the look you prefer.
Why might handwoven motifs show tiny differences?
Handloom weaving can naturally show small variations in motif placement or yarn tension. These are normal characteristics of the handmade process and are distinct from actual damage.
