Deep Brown Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram Vairaoosi Saree with Arakku Red Yazhi Zari Border
Deep Brown Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram Vairaoosi Saree with Arakku Red Yazhi Zari Border
Deep espresso-brown silk meets an Arakku-red border in a Kanchipuram composition with remarkable depth. Fine Vairaoosi lines travel quietly across the body, catching light in slender intervals, while petite zari buttas and a commanding array of handwoven Yazhi motifs bring the saree back to the grandeur of an older ceremonial vocabulary.
❖ Made to order, not off a shelf. This saree spent roughly 20 active days on the loom, in addition to dyeing, threading and finishing.

Woven in the Vairaoosi tradition, the body is articulated by very fine parallel lines that become more apparent as the silk moves, giving the dark brown ground a controlled rhythm rather than a flat surface. Petite zari buttas sit lightly over this structure. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 20 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.
Border: A rich Arakku-red border carries an array of handwoven Yazhi motifs in warm gold zari, followed by a broad luminous zari field. Against the almost espresso-brown body, the contrast feels architectural, ceremonial and distinctly vintage Kanchipuram.
Pallu: The Arakku-red pallu opens into a dense gold-zari field with closely worked geometric brocade and ornamental zari registers, creating a strong finish when the saree is draped over the shoulder.
Styling: Let the dark body and warm zari lead. Antique-gold earrings, a sculptural temple-style bangle or two, a neat bun and a berry-toned lip are enough. It is especially suited to Deepavali evenings, temple gatherings, weddings, receptions and classical cultural programs.
