Deep Arakku & Sage Grey Pure Silk Kanchipuram Vintage Butta Saree with Varisaipet Border

Deep Arakku & Sage Grey Pure Silk Kanchipuram Vintage Butta Saree with Varisaipet Border

A vintage Kanchipuram butta language, carefully revived. Across the deep Arakku silk, tiny plus-shaped buttas appear with extraordinary restraint, each catching just enough zari light to animate the surface.

❖ Handwoven in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu: this saree spent 16 days on the loom, woven by artisan families who have practiced this craft for generations.

The Varisaipet border is the richer counterpoint, built through stacked bands of zari work. Look closely for Rudraksham, Mayil Arai Maadam and Mulla Moggu, layered together in the vocabulary of traditional Kanchipuram borders.

The contrasting sage-grey pallu carries a quieter geometry, finished with Seepu Reku, fine comb-like linear work that gives the pallu its beautifully ordered rhythm.

A saree that feels discovered rather than designed anew: an older butta aesthetic brought back to the loom.
