Deep Arakku Maroon Handwoven Lightweight Pure Silk Kanjivaram Saree with Zari Kattam and Ornate Gold Zari Border

Deep Arakku Maroon Handwoven Lightweight Pure Silk Kanjivaram Saree with Zari Kattam and Ornate Gold Zari Border

Deep Arakku-maroon silk gives this lightweight Kanjivaram a dark, burnished richness. Gold Zari Kattam travels confidently across the body, with petite woven motifs placed between the checks, before the saree opens into a broader antique-gold border and an exceptionally dense pallu.

❖ Certified pure silk, woven over roughly 21 days in Kanchipuram by artisan families who learned this craft from their elders.

Woven in a Lightweight Kanchipuram construction, the dark Arakku body carries a strong gold Zari Kattam grid with alternating petite buttas, creating a traditional checked vocabulary without making the entire saree visually dense. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 21 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.

Border: Antique-gold zari is arranged in substantial ornamental and geometric registers, giving the deep maroon body a firm ceremonial frame without introducing another strong colour.

Pallu: The pallu is particularly rich, with a dense diamond-grid zari field and long traditional ornamental bands. The concentration of gold against the deep Arakku-maroon creates a warm, burnished finish.

Styling: Pair it with tonal Arakku, antique gold or dark green. Because the grid and pallu already carry substantial gold, keep jewellery deliberate rather than layered heavily. A neat bun, traditional earrings and an open shoulder pallu give the saree a strong, composed evening presence.

Well suited to Navratri and Dussehra gatherings, Diwali, weddings, receptions, temple programs, cultural events and special occasions.

Slight color variations due to screen and lighting; daylight photos/videos available on request.

Does Lightweight mean this Kanjivaram is not pure silk?
No. Lightweight refers to the saree's construction and overall weight, not to silk purity. This is a Pure Silk Kanchipuram and follows Idam Living's Silk Mark certified pure-silk standard.
How would you describe the colour?
The silk sits in a deep Arakku-maroon family with plum and brown undertones. Fine and dense antique-gold zari warms the colour further, especially when the saree moves under evening light.
What is happening across the body of the saree?
Gold zari lines create an ordered Kattam grid, with petite woven motifs appearing between the checks. This gives the dark body structure while leaving the richest concentration of zari for the border and pallu.
What makes the pallu particularly rich?
The pallu moves into a dense diamond-grid zari field with long ornamental woven registers, creating a much stronger antique-gold surface than the body.
Does this saree include a blouse piece?
Yes. A 0.8 m running blouse piece is included. Please refer to the product images for the blouse piece colour and design.
