Deep Arakku Red and Coffee Brown Shot-Colour Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjeevaram Butta Saree with Gold Zari Border

Deep Arakku Red and Coffee Brown Shot-Colour Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjeevaram Butta Saree with Gold Zari Border

A double-shade silk in deep Arakku red with a shot of coffee brown changes character with the light, moving between red and brown as the saree moves. Petite zari motifs sit lightly across the body, while stacked zari registers and a richly woven pallu add the depth expected of an occasion Kanjeevaram.

❖ Made to order, not off a shelf. This saree spent roughly 14 active days on the loom, in addition to dyeing, threading and finishing.

Woven in the Butta tradition, the deep Arakku-red body, shot with coffee brown, is scattered with petite zari motifs and left with generous areas of open silk, giving the saree an airy visual rhythm. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 14 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.

Border: Layered handwoven gold-zari bands frame the shot-colour body, giving the saree a crisp, traditional edge without overwhelming it.

Pallu: The pallu is densely woven in gold zari with a close geometric field and ornamental vertical registers, creating a rich finish over the shoulder.

Styling: Try clean antique-gold earrings, a simple temple-style necklace, soft warm makeup and a low bun. The deep red-brown palette works particularly well for Deepavali gatherings, weddings, receptions and elegant family occasions.

What makes this a Butta Kanjeevaram?
The body uses individually spaced petite woven motifs rather than an all-over brocade field.
How would you describe the colour?
The body is a double-shade deep Arakku red with a shot of coffee brown, so the colour appears to move between red and brown in different light, finished with warm gold-coloured zari.
Is this colour combination suitable for weddings?
Yes. The deep red-brown shot colour and gold zari give the saree enough richness for weddings, receptions and festive gatherings.
Is a running blouse piece included?
Yes. A 0.8 metre running blouse piece is included within the total 6.3 metre saree length, and custom blouse stitching is available separately.
How should this pure silk saree be stored?
Dry clean only, keep it folded in soft muslin away from direct sunlight, and avoid spraying perfume directly on the silk or zari.
