Coffee Brown Lightweight Handwoven Pure Silk Kancheepuram Saree with Antique Gold Zari Floral Border

Coffee Brown Lightweight Handwoven Pure Silk Kancheepuram Saree with Antique Gold Zari Floral Border

Warm coffee brown gives this lightweight Kancheepuram a softer depth than the near-black browns of traditional evening silks. Fine gold zari lines catch the light across the body, while petite motifs and a broad antique-gold border introduce detail without disturbing the calm, dark ground.

❖ Roughly 21 active days at the loom, plus dyeing, threading and finishing, went into this Kanchipuram saree.

The Lightweight Kanchipuram construction keeps the visual language refined, with closely ordered zari lines travelling across the coffee-brown silk between petite woven motifs. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 21 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.

Border: A broad antique-gold zari border is built from floral medallion registers and finer geometric bands, finished against a narrow dark green edge.

Pallu: Long floral zari panels alternate with slender decorative registers, creating a rich striped rhythm across the pallu while retaining the deep coffee-brown ground.

Styling: Use antique gold or dark green at the blouse and keep the jewellery warm rather than bright. A long necklace is optional; strong earrings and a neat bun are enough. Open the pallu fully for evening occasions so its alternating floral gold registers remain visible.

Suited to Dussehra and Diwali celebrations, temple and cultural gatherings, wedding festivities, receptions, family ceremonies and special occasions.

Slight color variations due to screen and lighting; daylight photos/videos available on request.

Blouse Piece Included: 0.8m running blouse piece. See our Blouse Stitching Guide.

What is different about a Lightweight Kanchipuram?
It retains the Pure Silk Kanchipuram identity and traditional woven detailing while being made in Idam Living's lighter Kanchipuram construction. Lightweight does not mean synthetic or blended silk.
How would you describe this brown?
It is a warm coffee brown with cocoa depth rather than a near-black brown. Antique-gold zari warms it further, while the narrow dark green edge gives the border a discreet contrast.
Why does the pallu look richer than the body?
The body uses fine zari lines and petite motifs. The pallu increases the density of gold through repeated elongated floral panels and narrower decorative registers.
Would this work for an evening cultural or festive event?
Yes. The deep brown and antique gold read especially well under evening light, while the visual richness is concentrated at the border and pallu rather than spread heavily across the entire body.
How should this Pure Silk saree be cared for?
Dry clean only. Store it folded in soft muslin away from direct sunlight, refold periodically and avoid spraying perfume directly onto the silk or zari.
