Chandanam Sandalwood Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram Saree with Sunset Orange Rettapet Border

Chandanam Sandalwood Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram Saree with Sunset Orange Rettapet Border

Soft Chandanam silk gives this saree a calm, sandalwood-toned body, while the border arrives in sunset orange with a subtle magenta shot. The contrast is luminous without overwhelming the body, with classic-gold zari catching the light through the border and pallu.

❖ This saree carries 18 days of loom work behind it, handwoven in Kanchipuram by artisan families continuing a generations-old craft.

Woven in the Rettapet tradition, the saree uses twin-register border detailing to frame a quiet Chandanam body scattered with petite zari maanga buttas. The visual balance comes from restraint in the body and concentrated ornament at the edge. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 18 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.

Border: Arai maadam and mayil pet registers build the Rettapet border in layers, moving from sunset orange into a fine magenta shot and warm zari. The high-colour edge gives the pale body a distinctly festive Kanchipuram rhythm.

Pallu: The pallu is richly arranged with repeating mayil pet and diamond pet sections, continuing the sunset-orange and magenta-shot colour story in a denser field of zari.

Styling: Pair the Chandanam body with a deep magenta, vermilion-orange or antique-gold blouse. Keep the jewellery warm and sculptural, such as temple jhumkas or a short antique-gold necklace, and finish with jasmine or a sleek low bun. The border is strong enough to carry the look without heavy accessories.

Occasions: Especially suited to Navratri visits, Dussehra gatherings, Deepavali, temple celebrations, wedding ceremonies, Karthigai Deepam and year-end cultural gatherings.
