Champagne Beige Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram Butta Saree with Crimson Peacock Floral Zari Border

Champagne Beige Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram Butta Saree with Crimson Peacock Floral Zari Border

A softly burnished champagne-beige body meets a deep crimson border in a saree with unusual visual depth. The dense 4-ply silk carries a quiet metallic glow, while the red and gold framing gives the drape the richness of an old ceremonial Kanchipuram.

❖ Woven by hand in Kanchipuram over 16 days on the loom, a piece of a centuries-old weaving tradition, made with certified pure silk.

Woven as a dense 4-ply Butta Kanchipuram, the body uses closely ordered chevron-like zari lines to create a continuous jaal effect rather than relying only on isolated motifs. Its visual richness recalls the all-over ornament of Banarasi jaal weaving, while the saree remains firmly rooted in Kanchipuram silk construction. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 16 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.

Border: A broad crimson-red register is densely handwoven in gold zari with large peacocks moving through an abundant floral vine. The generous scale of the motifs gives the edge a tapestry-like presence against the quieter champagne body.

Pallu: The pallu deepens the zari language with a luminous field of fine geometry, diamond-like registers, elongated ornamental motifs and richly ordered bands, creating a substantial finish to the drape.

Styling: Pair it with crimson silk or muted antique gold and allow the broad border to remain the focus. Old-gold jewellery, a low bun, jasmine and a clean shoulder drape would suit its dense textile character particularly well.

Especially suited to Diwali evenings, wedding receptions, formal ceremonies, cultural gatherings and winter celebrations where a richer Kanchipuram feels appropriate.

Slight color variations due to screen and lighting; daylight photos/videos available on request.

What makes this a Butta Kanchipuram saree?
The saree remains a Butta Kanchipuram, but its fine chevron zari is spread so continuously across the dense 4-ply body that it creates an all-over jaal-like rhythm. This gives the surface far more visual density than a widely spaced butta saree.
Why does this saree have a Banarasi-inspired appearance?
The inspiration comes from the richness and continuity of an all-over jaal, not from the saree being Banarasi. Its silk identity and construction remain Kanchipuram, while the dense zari treatment gives it that richly filled textile mood.
How would you style the champagne and crimson colour combination?
Deep crimson, antique gold or a very restrained neutral blouse would work beautifully. Old-gold jewellery and a clean drape allow the broad peacock-and-floral border to remain the focus.
Can Idam Living design a custom blouse for this saree?
Yes. We can work with the saree colours and border proportions to design a blouse that feels balanced against the heavier zari work. Custom blouse stitching is available through Idam Living.
Is this saree Silk Mark certified?
Yes. It is a handwoven Pure Mulberry Silk Kanchipuram saree and carries the Silk Mark assurance used by Idam Living for its pure silk Kanchipuram collection.
