Burnished Mustard Gold Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram Korvai Saree with Royal Violet Zari Border

Burnished Mustard Gold Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram Korvai Saree with Royal Violet Zari Border

Burnished mustard gold moves through the body with a soft smoky-mauve cast, while royal violet arrives at the edge with the intensity of temple silk under lamplight. Petite Mayil Chakram buttas keep the body measured and traditional, leaving the Korvai contrast to carry the drama.

❖ This saree was woven over 20 days on the loom in Kanchipuram, using Silk Mark certified pure silk, by weaver families whose craft has been passed down for generations.

Woven in the Korvai tradition, the contrasting border is structurally interlocked with the body, giving the colour change its characteristic definition. The body is scattered with small Mayil Chakram buttas, while the broad edge builds through Banaras pettu and Mayil pettu zari registers. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 20 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.

Border: A broad royal-violet Korvai border with dense gold zari. Thick Banaras pettu and Mayil pettu registers are layered with peacock, Rudraksham and lattice detailing, creating the substantial old-Kanchi edge seen in the photographs.

Pallu: A rich royal-violet pallu filled with a fine diamond-lattice field, framed by long zari registers and an ornate peacock-led panel. The gold work reads luminous against the saturated violet ground.

Styling: Keep the blouse in royal violet for a strong traditional line, or use muted antique gold to soften the contrast. Temple gold earrings, a low jasmine bun and a compact clutch will suit festive ceremonies, classical music evenings and wedding gatherings without competing with the border.

Slight color variations due to screen and lighting; daylight photos/videos available on request.

What does Korvai mean in this Kanchipuram saree?
Korvai is the traditional Kanchipuram technique in which the contrasting border is structurally interlocked with the body on the loom. Here it gives the royal-violet border a crisp, deliberate transition from the burnished mustard-gold body.
What are the small motifs on the body?
The body carries small Mayil Chakram zari buttas. Their restrained scale keeps the field open while the broader Banaras pettu and Mayil pettu border registers carry the heavier decorative work.
How would you style the mustard-gold and royal-violet combination?
A royal-violet blouse keeps the contrast classical, while antique gold makes the look quieter. Temple jewellery and jasmine work especially well because the border already has strong peacock, Rudraksham and lattice detail.
Does this saree include a blouse piece?
Yes. A 0.8 m running blouse piece is included. Please refer to the product images for the blouse piece colour and design. Custom Blouse Stitching is available through Idam Living.
Is this saree Silk Mark certified?
Yes. Idam Living is a Silk Mark authorised user, and this Pure Silk Kanchipuram saree is listed as Silk Mark certified. The saree is handwoven in Kanchipuram district for Idam Living.
