Black Pure Silk Kanjeevaram Rettapet Saree with Multicolour Mayil Chakram & Ganga Jamuna Border

Black Pure Silk Kanjeevaram Rettapet Saree with Multicolour Mayil Chakram & Ganga Jamuna Border

A dramatic vintage Kanjeevaram built around colour, repetition and contrast. The deep Karuppu black body has the quiet depth of polished temple stone, allowing the coloured Mayil Chakram motifs to stand apart with remarkable clarity.

❖ A piece of a centuries-old weaving tradition, handwoven in Kanchipuram by artisan weaver families using certified pure silk.

The motifs are woven in silk thread in ochre yellow and vermilion red, alternating diagonally across the body to create a deliberate visual rhythm. Rather than reading as scattered buttas, the diagonal sequencing gives the entire field movement.

The borders are Ganga Jamuna, with a different colour defining each side of the saree. This intentional contrast is one of the most beautiful traditional devices in Kanchipuram weaving and gives the saree an unmistakably vintage character.

The pallu is richly composed with ornate arches arranged in a grid, flanked by a floral sequence and Thazhampoo Reku detailing. The transition from restrained black body to richly worked pallu makes the final drape especially striking.

A powerful silk for Diwali evenings, cultural gatherings, temple events, wedding celebrations and special occasions.
