Aubergine Brown Handwoven Pure Silk Kancheepuram Butta Saree with Olive Gold Zari Border

Aubergine Brown Handwoven Pure Silk Kancheepuram Butta Saree with Olive Gold Zari Border

Muted aubergine-brown silk meets a deep olive-gold border, giving this saree an earthy richness that feels quieter than a bright festive palette. Alternating circular floral medallions and small figurative buttas punctuate the body, while the broad zari field adds depth at the edge.

❖ Woven in Kanchipuram over 16 days on the loom, using Silk Mark certified pure silk, by artisans who have handed this craft down through generations.

Woven in the Butta tradition, the body alternates circular floral medallions with smaller figurative zari motifs, arranged with enough spacing to preserve the calm surface of the silk. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 16 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.

Border: Broad olive-gold zari border with fine geometric lattice and leaf-edged banding.

Pallu: Rich olive-gold pallu with a dense geometric zari field and ordered border bands.

Styling: An olive, antique-gold or deep aubergine blouse keeps the palette cohesive. Pair with temple-style jewellery or matte gold, a centre-parted bun and minimal flowers. The border is substantial enough to carry the look, so accessories can remain restrained.

Especially suited to Karthigai Deepam gatherings, temple events, cultural programs, wedding ceremonies and evening family occasions.

Frequently bought together

What kind of buttas appear on this aubergine-brown Kancheepuram saree?
The body alternates circular floral medallions with smaller figurative zari motifs. The spacing keeps the body open while adding a more varied rhythm than a single repeated butta.
How would you describe the colour combination?
The body is a muted aubergine-brown, paired with an olive-gold border and pallu. The combination is earthy and warm rather than bright or high contrast.
Is the pallu heavily woven?
Yes. The photographed pallu shows a dense geometric zari field framed by ordered bands, giving the end section considerably more visual weight than the body.
Can I request a blouse design that repeats the olive-gold border mood?
Yes. Idam Living can work from the saree palette when custom blouse stitching is selected through the current website service or offer. Design preferences are collected after purchase.
Will small irregularities be considered defects?
Minor variations can occur in handwoven silk and are part of the handloom process. Any material issue identified during Idam Living quality control is handled separately before dispatch.
