Arakku Red Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjivaram Rettapet Saree with Emerald Green Gold Zari Border

Arakku Red Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjivaram Rettapet Saree with Emerald Green Gold Zari Border

Burnished Arakku red is cooled by a deep emerald green border, a classic contrast that becomes richer under warm light. Gold zari appears in measured body buttas before building into the broader border and densely worked green pallu.

❖ This saree carries 18 days of loom work behind it, handwoven in Kanchipuram by artisan families continuing a generations-old craft.

Woven in the Rettapet tradition, the saree uses a strongly framed contrast border to give the Arakku body a clear edge. Alternating mayil and chakram zari buttas sit across the silk. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 18 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.

Border: Deep emerald green Rettapet border with broad gold zari bands, small floral medallion registers and crisp stacked lines.

Pallu: Deep emerald green pallu with a dense gold zari diamond lattice and vertically framed ornamental bands.

Styling: Style it with a deep green blouse for a seamless traditional look, or an Arakku blouse for stronger contrast. Kemp jewellery, antique gold and fresh jasmine all sit naturally with the red-green palette.

Frequently bought together

How does Rettapet appear on this red and green saree?
The Rettapet treatment creates a strong green frame around the Arakku red body. Broad gold bands and smaller floral registers make the border feel layered rather than flat.
Which motifs appear on the body?
The Arakku red body carries alternating mayil and chakram gold zari buttas in a measured repeat.
What is special about the colour combination?
Arakku red and deep emerald green are a classic South Indian silk pairing. The green cools the warmth of the red while the gold zari ties both colours together.
How is the pallu different from the body?
The pallu moves fully into deep emerald green and is densely woven with a gold diamond lattice and vertically framed ornamental bands.
How would you style this saree?
A deep green or Arakku blouse works beautifully. Kemp jewellery, antique gold, jasmine and a simple low bun keep the styling connected to the traditional colour story.
