Royal Blue Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjipuram Zari Kattam Saree with Gandaberunda Zari Motif
Royal Blue Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjipuram Zari Kattam Saree with Gandaberunda Zari Motif
A Kannada wedding's Naandi and Saptapadi rituals call for a saree with quiet grandeur. Fine zari threads intersect across the silk body to form a luminous grid — the defining structure of the Zari Kattam weave. Each saree takes 42 days from dyeing to finishing and cannot be replicated by machine. Handcrafted on family looms across Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu. Read our story.
The vivid royal blue pure mulberry silk body is woven in a fine zari checkered grid characteristic of the Zari Kattam weave, scattered with delicate zari buttas for subtle depth. This is a signature pure silk Kanchipuram weave, prized for its structured shimmer.
The border is highlighted with a prominent Gandaberunda zari motif and slim antique-gold zari lines, a design steeped in South Indian royal heritage. The pallu continues the same Gandaberunda and zari detailing in a fuller sweep.
This saree is well-suited to a Kannada wedding's Naandi and Saptapadi rituals, a reception, or any grand milestone celebration. Pair with a contrasting ivory or maroon silk blouse and gold jewellery — a temple necklace, jhumkas, and a vanki armlet — for a regal finish.
