This is a confirmed Zari Kattam composition. A fine classic-gold zari grid structures the MS Blue field with remarkable precision, while tiny zari buttas sit rhythmically within the kattam. Zari Kattam: Kattam refers to the checked or grid-like structure created across the silk field. Here, extremely fine gold zari lines form an orderly lattice over the MS Blue body, with small zari buttas placed within that geometry to create a disciplined, rhythmic surface.

Border: The broad Kanakambaram Orange pettu brings an intense warm contrast to the cool blue body. Prominent Mayil motifs repeat through the classic-gold zari register, surrounded by scrolling floral ornament. Fine Reku lines and narrow geometric bands frame the peacocks with the precision of carved temple mouldings.

The border has a Rettapet-style architectural quality, but this phrase is descriptive only. The confirmed weave classification remains Zari Kattam and the product must not be reclassified as Rettapet.

Pallu: The Kanakambaram Orange pallu becomes considerably richer, arranged in long zari registers carrying large maanga-inspired ornamental forms, floral elements and slender Reku divisions. Repeated temple-style edging creates a strong longitudinal rhythm, while the warm gold reads against the orange like late-afternoon sunlight across polished brass.

Styling: Pair it with Kanakambaram Orange to continue the border and pallu, or choose MS Blue for a clean tonal body. Traditional gold jewellery, temple jhumkas or one sculptural necklace will complement the Mayil border beautifully. Keep the pallu open enough to show the long ornamental registers and let the fine Zari Kattam remain visible across the body.
