Deep Kathiripoo Purple Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchi Pattu Zari Kattam Saree with Classic Gold Ornamental Border

Deep Kathiripoo Purple Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchi Pattu Zari Kattam Saree with Classic Gold Ornamental Border

Deep Kathiripoo Purple gives this handwoven Pure Silk Kanchi Pattu a saturated violet-purple body with the depth of ripe aubergine and traditional kathiri blossoms. Fine classic-gold Zari Kattam crosses the silk in a restrained grid, catching light across the folds without overwhelming the jewel-toned ground.

Handwoven in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. The structured Kattam body develops into a much richer lower border, where deep purple and classic gold carry equal visual presence. Read our story.

Border: Layered classic-gold zari bands carry sweeping floral and maanga-inspired forms, miniature medallion-like details and fine Reku-style separators. Against the dark purple ground, the gold develops the mellow visual warmth associated with traditional temple jewellery.

Styling: A tonal Deep Kathiripoo blouse creates a saturated monochromatic treatment, while emerald green or Rani Pink introduces a stronger traditional contrast. Antique gold works naturally for ceremony. Pair with temple jewellery, pearls, jasmine and restrained emerald accents.

The Deep Kathiripoo and classic-gold palette works naturally for Navarathiri, Deepavali, Karthigai Deepam, weddings, temple celebrations, classical performances and other festive occasions, ceremonies, cultural gatherings and special occasions.

Slight color variations due to screen and lighting; daylight photos/videos available on request.

Frequently bought together

How would you describe Deep Kathiripoo Purple?
It is a saturated violet-purple with aubergine depth, inspired by the traditional Kathiripoo colour family. It is deeper than lavender and distinct from Vadamalli or Naval Pazham.
What defines the Zari Kattam body?
Fine classic-gold lines cross the purple silk in a restrained grid, creating measured geometry and selective flashes of light.
What appears in the border?
The border combines layered classic-gold zari with sweeping floral and maanga-inspired forms, miniature medallion-like details and fine Reku-style separators.
Are the maanga-inspired forms confirmed traditional Maanga motifs?
The product description supports maanga-inspired forms, but exact Maanga authentication has not been separately confirmed.
Are the miniature medallions Chakram motifs?
No exact Chakram identity has been confirmed. They should remain described as miniature medallion-like details unless separately authenticated.
What do the Reku-style separators contribute?
They create fine visual divisions between the larger ornamental registers, helping the broad border remain structured despite its richer decoration.
How does the gold appear against dark Kathiripoo Purple?
The dark purple makes the classic gold appear warmer and more concentrated, particularly in evening light.
Which blouse direction would suit this saree?
Tonal Deep Kathiripoo creates a saturated look, while emerald green or Rani Pink introduces contrast. Antique gold creates a stronger ceremonial treatment.
What length and finishing are included?
The saree measures 6.3 m including a 0.8 m running blouse piece. Fall & Pico is complimentary and included.
