Deep Cherry Red Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjivaram Saree with Chakram and Traditional Bird Buttas
Deep Cherry Red Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjivaram Saree with Chakram and Traditional Bird Buttas
Deep cherry red gives this handwoven Pure Silk Kanjivaram a rich jewel-toned presence. Darker and redder than Rani Pink, the colour carries the depth of black cherry skin and lacquered ceremonial silk, glowing warmly against classic gold.
❖ Handwoven to order, not mass-produced — each saree is individually woven by hand, thread by thread.
The body is structured in a bold classic-gold Zari Kattam, with larger intersecting zari lines forming generous square compartments across the red silk. Chakram-style circular medallions alternate with traditional bird buttas of a Gandaberunda-style visual character, creating a strong graphic rhythm across the architectural grid.
Handwoven in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. The measured body develops into a more ornate lower border and a substantially richer mundhanai, moving from bold checked geometry into concentrated ceremonial gold zari. Read our story.
Border: Multiple classic-gold zari registers build the lower edge through fine geometric detailing and repeated ornamental bands. Along the lower section, Yaanai motifs appear in framed panels, introducing a distinctly traditional temple character beneath the bold deep cherry red Kattam.
Mundhanai: The pallu opens into a dense classic-gold zari field with fine lattice detailing. A broad ornamental panel carries traditional animal and floral-inspired zari work, framed by narrow geometric lines and finished with a solid deep cherry red edge and tassels. The contrast between dark red and dense gold gives the mundhanai its grand ceremonial presence.
Styling: A tonal deep cherry red blouse keeps the jewel colour uninterrupted, while classic gold creates a stronger ceremonial interpretation. Antique-gold or temple jewellery works naturally with the border. For an old-Kanchi contrast, add a deep-green blouse or restrained emerald accent, jasmine flowers and an antique-gold or deep cherry red clutch.
The deep cherry red and classic-gold palette works naturally for Navratri and Golu gatherings, Vijayadashami, Deepavali, Karthigai Deepam, Indian weddings, engagement celebrations, temple programs, arangetrams, classical performances and other festive occasions, ceremonies, cultural gatherings and special occasions.
Care: Dry clean only. Store folded in a soft muslin cloth away from direct sunlight. Do not spray perfume directly on the silk or zari.
