16 Days on Loom
Pure Mulberry Silk
Handwoven in Kanchipuram
Woven in the Varisaipet tradition, ordered layers of Kanchipuram motifs run in ornamental bands along the border, with a contrast pallu that reveals the full intricacy of the design. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 16 active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.
Border The border is worked in red silk thread with zari, holding alternating geometric and floral-medallion bands, scrolling paisley/maanga-like forms and finely lined zari work.
Pallu Its striking magenta pallu unfolds in broad gold-toned ornamental panels, with dense geometric lattice and a procession of floral and paisley-inspired motifs. Orange-gold bands bring a ceremonial glow to the composition.
Styling Pair with magenta raw silk for festive contrast or warm-ivory silk for a restrained temple or family celebration look. A classic for weddings, temple visits, festive gatherings and heirloom gifting.
