Pure Mulberry Silk
Handwoven in Kanchipuram
Rich, deep earth brown silk, punctuated by small, evenly spaced zari buttas across a generous expanse of unbroken silk. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. Read our story.
Border A slim, traditional zari band with a repeating procession of Yaanai (elephants) inside arched ornamental compartments, with fine floral and geometric framing, topped by a tiny pointed reku edge and finished with a thin magenta silk selvedge.
Pallu A grand gold-zari diamond lattice, each diamond holding a smaller nested geometric square, with wide ornamental side bands of scrolling floral and paisley-like motifs and delicate linear zari divisions.
Styling Wear with a magenta silk blouse and restrained gold jhumkas for a temple visit; choose a tonal earth-brown blouse and antique-finish jewellery for an elegant wedding guest look. A sleek pleat lets the slim Yaanai border create a longer visual line.
