Deep Violet Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram Vairaoosi Saree with Standing Yazhi Zari Border
Deep Violet Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram Vairaoosi Saree with Standing Yazhi Zari Border
Deep violet silk and a rich Arakku-maroon border give this lightweight Vairaoosi Kanchipuram the unmistakable confidence of an older Kanchi palette. The body is finely ordered and relatively restrained, allowing an extraordinary standing procession of Yazhi motifs to become the defining feature of the border.
❖ 21 days of loom work went into this saree, handwoven in Kanchipuram by generations of artisan weaver families using certified pure silk.

The Vairaoosi kattam structure creates a fine linear rhythm across the violet body, giving the silk texture without visually crowding it. This is a lightweight Kanchipuram, woven using finer 2-ply and 3-ply mulberry silk yarn. The restrained ground makes the heavily ornamented border particularly striking. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this type represents approximately 21 active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.
Border: The border carries a beautifully ornate standing array of Yazhi motifs woven in warm gold zari against the deep Arakku-maroon ground. Repeated ornamental bands and a broad gold zari field give the edge unusual depth and make this a particularly rare border composition.
Pallu: The pallu moves into a dense Arakku and gold composition, balancing broad zari fields with finely woven traditional ornament and continuing the richly ceremonial character of the border.
Styling: A deep violet blouse keeps the body visually uninterrupted, while Arakku creates a more traditional contrast. Antique gold temple jewellery or a single substantial necklace will complement the standing Yazhi border without competing with its scale.
The rare violet, Arakku and gold combination works naturally for Navratri, Vijayadashami, Diwali, weddings, temple gatherings, festive occasions, ceremonies, cultural gatherings and special occasions.
