Black, Grey and Ivory Handwoven Pure Silk KanchiPattu Saree with Kanchi Kattam Checks and Pillar-Box Red Border

Black, Grey and Ivory Handwoven Pure Silk KanchiPattu Saree with Kanchi Kattam Checks and Pillar-Box Red Border

Draped for a Navratri garba night at a community centre — nine nights of dance and devotion, this black, grey and ivory Pure Kanchipuram Silk saree is handwoven in the traditional Kanchi kattam weave. Intersecting silk threads form a structured checkered grid across the body. Each saree takes 46 days on the loom and cannot be replicated by machine. Crafted thread by thread by artisan families in Kunnam village in Kanchipuram district. Read our story.

Handwoven to order, not mass-produced. Nothing here comes off a shelf. 46 days of dyeing, threading, and weaving go into every saree, 46 of that on the loom.

The Kanchi Kattam body in black, grey and ivory — bold oversized checks in black, silvery grey and ivory create a striking monochrome body, in pure mulberry silk.

The border is a vivid pillar-box red border, beginning with a petite antique-gold temple zari edge and finishing in a richly woven band of traditional peacock and floral motifs, completed with a richly woven pallu that continues the peacock and floral zari detailing of the border.

Handwoven by skilled artisan families in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, using pure mulberry silk and traditional handloom techniques, this saree is perfect for weddings, festive gatherings and cultural celebrations.
