This pure mulberry silk Kanchipuram is built on a classic Silk Thread Kattam composition, with fine silk-thread kattam checks forming an orderly lattice across the green body. A saree of this type typically represents approximately 21 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. Read our story.
Border: The vivid green rises into a row of traditional Thazhampoo Reku forms before meeting a deep black silk band, densely ornamented with antique-gold zari. Geometric Mayil Kann-inspired details and Rudraksham Pet-style accents bring a sense of old-Kanchi craftsmanship.
Pallu: Broad parallel gold zari bands stretch across a black silk field, recalling the rhythmic stripe arrangements associated with Ilkal-style pallus. Against the brilliance of the green body, the black and gold feels especially striking.
Styling: Wear with a black silk blouse and antique-gold jewellery, allowing the colours and the woven structure to speak for themselves.
