The body is a warm, golden mustard — an earthy, sun-drenched tone that carries the natural warmth of the mulberry silk beneath it. Fine vertical stripe lines run through the body and small floral butta are placed at intervals in self-tone zari, each one a contained moment of craft. The border is a deep forest green — the kind that exists in the shade of old trees. Within it, gold zari weaves an elaborate landscape of peacocks and flowering vines, one of Kanchipuram’s most celebrated motifs. The border edge carries a geometric zari band, and the pallu continues in the same green with the same richly worked zari — the two ends of the saree in conversation.
