This Kanchipuram's pure mulberry silk body is woven in a classic Silk Thread Kattam composition, with fine golden checks across the saturated red ground. A saree of this type typically represents approximately 21 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. Read our story.
Border: The border begins with a delicate blue-grey Thazhampoo Reku pattern, its pointed forms creating a transition from the red silk body. Beyond it lies a broad powder-blue band ornamented with fine gold zari geometry and traditional Mayil Kann and Rudraksham Pet-inspired detailing.
Pallu: An arrangement of parallel gold zari bands across powder-blue silk. The long, measured stripes recall the visual rhythm of an Ilkal-style pallu, while the geometric zari at the edge gives the drape a distinctly Kanchipuram character.
Styling: Pair with powder-blue silk for a considered tonal contrast, or choose a deep red blouse to allow the border to become the centrepiece.
