Deep Burgundy Handwoven Pure Silk Kancheepuram Saree with Rettapet and Peacock Border
Deep Burgundy Handwoven Pure Silk Kancheepuram Saree with Rettapet and Peacock Border
A deep burgundy Kancheepuram saree carries elegant rettapet lines across the body. Twin parallel border lines create a balanced layered edge, punctuated by delicate gold buttas that catch the light with quiet richness. Each saree takes six days on the loom and cannot be replicated by machine. Woven on family looms in Kunnam village, Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu — read our story.
The deep burgundy body is woven in pure mulberry silk, its depth of colour offering understated grandeur beneath the rettapet lines — a hallmark of Kanchipuram ceremonial silks.
A broad traditional zari border, richly woven with classic peacock motifs, frames the saree with heritage-inspired detail, its pallu carrying the same peacock zari work.
This saree suits weddings and formal festive occasions. Pair with a gold or deep green blouse, and finish the look with temple jewellery and a statement necklace.
