Ivory Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjipuram Saree with Rettapet Peacock Chakram Butta

Ivory Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjipuram Saree with Rettapet Peacock Chakram Butta

A muhurtham saree for a second-generation Indian American bride's mother needs to feel classic without competing with the ceremony's colours, and this ivory silk scattered with peacock chakram butta motifs and framed by a rettapet border was made for exactly that moment. Twin parallel border lines create a balanced layered edge — 8 days on the loom, and cannot be replicated by machine. Woven by our family's artisan weaver families in Kunnam village near Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu — read our story.

The ivory body is woven in pure mulberry silk, scattered with small gold peacock chakram butta motifs spaced evenly across the surface — understated rather than dense, letting the silk itself carry the elegance. Explore our full pure silk Kanchipuram collection for coordinating pieces.

The border is where the rettapet structure shows itself clearly — twin parallel gold zari lines running the length of the saree, with a wider densely woven gold band at the edge. The pallu carries the same twin-line rettapet detailing with a peacock chakram motif at the centre. Explore more of our Rettapet sarees if this border style speaks to you.

This saree pairs beautifully with antique gold or pearl jewellery, and suits muhurtham ceremonies, temple functions, or any occasion calling for quiet elegance.
