Aubergine Purple Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram Saree with Vairaoosi Weave and Antique Gold Zari Border
Aubergine Purple Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram Saree with Vairaoosi Weave and Antique Gold Zari Border
Draped for a Saraswati Puja — books, instruments, and silk sarees placed in worship, this aubergine purple Pure Kanchipuram Silk saree is handwoven in the traditional Vairaoosi weave. Fine needle-like zari lines woven continuously across the body, creating a delicate all-over shimmer. Each saree takes 45 days from dyeing to weaving and cannot be replicated by machine. From the loom of Kunnam village in Kanchipuram district, woven by the same families for generations. Read our story.
❖ Handwoven to order, not mass-produced. Handwoven, start to finish. 45 days — dyeing the thread, setting up the loom, and weaving the final piece.
The Vairaoosi body in aubergine purple — the deep aubergine-purple body has a beautiful natural lustre, shifting from rich plum to jewel-toned purple as it catches the light, in pure mulberry silk.
The border is a broad antique-gold zari border with beautifully woven peacock and floral motifs framing a luminous zari field, completed with a grand zari pallu that carries the same peacock and floral detailing through to the drape.
Handwoven by skilled artisan families in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, using pure mulberry silk and traditional handloom techniques, this saree is perfect for weddings, festive celebrations and for collectors who appreciate authentic Kanchipuram craftsmanship.
