Warm Ivory Varisaipet Pure Silk Kanchipuram Saree with Copper Gold and Violet Border
Warm Ivory Varisaipet Pure Silk Kanchipuram Saree with Copper Gold and Violet Border
Warm Ivory — Silk the Colour of Morning Light
As luminous as the first light falling across a temple courtyard, this warm-ivory Kanchipuram is a remarkable celebration of traditional colour and intricate weaving. The body has the gentle warmth of fresh jasmine petals, while its magnificent border gathers the colours of vermilion kumkum, burnished copper, royal violet and molten gold into one splendid composition.
❖ This saree carries 16 days of loom work behind it, handwoven in Kanchipuram by artisan families continuing a generations-old craft.

Varisaipet arranges the border as successive bands of woven ornament. Here, copper-gold, vermilion-red, deep brown and royal-violet bands sit against a warm-ivory body scattered with gold buttas, leading to a rust-red zari pallu. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 16 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.
The Body — An Ivory Canvas
The expansive silk body is a soft, creamy ivory — not a stark white, but a beautiful warm shade with subtle golden undertones. Delicately spaced gold zari buttas appear like tiny blossoms scattered across the fabric. The radiant, smooth silk becomes a perfect canvas for the extraordinary richness of the border.
The Varisaipet Border — Layers of Heritage
Varisaipet celebrates the architectural beauty of layered borders, where bands of traditional woven ornamentation are arranged in carefully balanced succession. Here, a warm copper-gold zari field is joined by vermilion-red outlines, deep brown accents and vivid royal-violet bands.
Floral and paisley-inspired gold motifs create richly ornamental sections along the border, while broad bands of luminous zari bring grandeur to the design. The repetition of colours and woven bands gives the border a beautiful sense of ceremony — reminiscent of the layered carvings, painted pillars and gold-lit sanctums of South Indian temples.
The Pallu — A Tapestry of Fire and Gold
The pallu unfolds in rich rust-red and vermilion silk, covered with a dense field of closely arranged gold zari floral and geometric motifs. The finely repeated pattern glows like burnished copper beneath the afternoon sun. Additional ornamental gold bands frame the composition, creating a glorious contrast with the quiet elegance of the ivory body.
Styling Notes
A vermilion-red silk blouse would make a timeless pairing, particularly with a traditional high neckline or elbow-length sleeves. For a more unexpected look, choose a royal-violet blouse with fine gold edging. Antique-gold temple jewellery, a ruby-toned necklace or traditional jhumkas would beautifully complement the border.
A striking choice for wedding ceremonies, bridal-family occasions, Deepavali celebrations, temple visits, festive portraits, traditional gatherings and grand milestone celebrations.
