Sapphire Blue Pure Silk Kanjipuram Zari Kattam Saree with Arakku Sorgavaasal Mayil Zari Border

Sapphire Blue Pure Silk Kanjipuram Zari Kattam Saree with Arakku Sorgavaasal Mayil Zari Border

Blue at its most saturated. This Kanjipuram has the depth of sapphire with a flash of electric Neelam blue whenever the silk catches the light. A whisper-fine Zari Kattam grid gives the body texture without interrupting the clarity of the colour, while small gold buttas appear like points of light across the surface.

❖ Sixteen days on a Kanchipuram loom, certified pure silk, and generations of weaver knowledge are woven into this saree.

Woven in the Zari Kattam tradition, with a fine gold zari grid across the body and spaced buttas, in pure mulberry silk. A saree of this type represents approximately 16 active days on the loom, although individual weaving time varies. Woven for Idam Living by skilled artisan families in the Kanchipuram district of Tamil Nadu. Read our story.

The border is deep Arakku-maroon, edged and filled with warm gold zari. Its centrepiece is Sorgavaasal Mayil, the peacock placed within an arched frame, one of the most visually beautiful traditional zari motifs in Kanchipuram weaving. Seen across the full border, the peacocks form a continuous golden procession.

The contrast pallu is richly worked in Arakku and gold, with long traditional zari bands that give the drape presence from every angle.

Blue, garnet and gold become especially vivid after sunset. Wear it with rubies, antique gold, diamonds, emeralds or temple jewellery. It takes strong jewels beautifully. Made for Navratri, Vijayadashami, Diwali, temple evenings, festive occasions, ceremonies, cultural gatherings and special occasions.

Blouse Piece Included: 0.8m running blouse piece. See our Blouse Stitching Guide.
