Parrot Green Pure Silk Kanchipuram Zari Kattam Saree with Royal Blue Sorgavaasal Mayil Zari Border

Parrot Green Pure Silk Kanchipuram Zari Kattam Saree with Royal Blue Sorgavaasal Mayil Zari Border

A green that seems to hold light inside it. This handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram begins in luminous parrot green, cooling towards emerald and teal as the folds deepen. Fine gold Zari Kattam checks run quietly across the body, punctuated by delicate zari buttas, while a saturated royal-blue border gives the entire saree its dramatic edge.

❖ Sixteen days at the loom, Silk Mark certified pure silk, and a Kanchipuram weaving family's generational skill went into this saree.

Woven in the Zari Kattam tradition, with a fine gold zari grid across the body and spaced buttas, in pure mulberry silk. A saree of this type represents approximately 16 active days on the loom, although individual weaving time varies. Woven for Idam Living by skilled artisan families in the Kanchipuram district of Tamil Nadu. Read our story.

The border is the extraordinary detail here: Sorgavaasal Mayil, the peacock held within an elegant arched architectural frame. It is one of the most aesthetic traditional zari compositions in Kanchipuram weaving, repeating rhythmically across the border in glowing gold against blue.

The contrast continues into a richly woven royal-blue pallu, where vertical zari bands and traditional ornament create a grand finish without losing the precision of the weave.

This is the kind of silk that comes fully alive after sunset. Warm lamps and evening light draw gold from every check and every peacock. Style it with antique gold, emeralds, temple jewellery, pearls or deep blue stones for festive occasions, ceremonies, cultural gatherings and special occasions. Particularly striking for Navratri, Vijayadashami and Diwali celebrations.

Blouse Piece Included: 0.8m running blouse piece. See our Blouse Stitching Guide.
