Naval Pazham Plum Pure Silk Kanjeevaram Zari Kattam Saree with Deep Arakku Sorgavaasal Mayil Border
Naval Pazham Plum Pure Silk Kanjeevaram Zari Kattam Saree with Deep Arakku Sorgavaasal Mayil Border
A saree built around depth rather than brightness. The body is a dark Naval Pazham plum, with blackened grape, aubergine and mulberry appearing in different folds, crossed by extraordinarily fine gold Zari Kattam lines. Tiny buttas seem to float over the grid.
❖ Woven over 16 days in Kanchipuram, in certified pure silk, by hands that inherited this craft across generations.

Woven in the Zari Kattam tradition, with a fine gold zari grid across the body and spaced buttas, in pure mulberry silk. A saree of this type represents approximately 16 active days on the loom, although individual weaving time varies. Woven for Idam Living by skilled artisan families in the Kanchipuram district of Tamil Nadu. Read our story.
The border shifts only a few shades warmer into deep Arakku and burgundy, making this an unusually sophisticated tonal Kanjeevaram. Across it, broad gold Sorgavaasal Mayil motifs place individual peacocks within arched frames. The repetition has the rhythm of carved temple architecture translated into zari.
The pallu expands the Arakku story through long vertical zari bands and traditional motifs, creating an impressive fall over the shoulder.
In candlelight or warm evening light, the plum recedes and the zari comes forward, exactly the kind of transformation that makes traditional silk so compelling. Style with antique gold, rubies, garnets, pearls or emerald accents for festive occasions, ceremonies, cultural gatherings and special occasions through Navratri, Vijayadashami and Diwali.
