This Kanjivaram carries a traditional Varisaipet construction in pure mulberry silk, with successive rows of zari ornament woven in ordered bands along the border. A saree of this type typically represents approximately 16 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. Read our story.
Border: A deep-violet Varisaipet border articulated by successive gold-zari bands of round medallions, peacock-and-floral detailing and finely coloured red and green lines. These ordered ornamental rows bring structure to the vibrant colour.
Pallu: The violet pallu is a grand woven composition of gold-zari grids, circular medallions and flowing traditional motifs, a richly detailed contrast to the luminous peach body.
Styling: Wear with an unembellished violet blouse to let the border lead, or with a softly structured ivory silk blouse for an elegant contrast. Finish with antique-gold temple jewellery and a jasmine-adorned braid. It suits Navaratri and Vijayadashami programmes, Diwali celebrations, temple festivals, classical-music recitals and winter wedding festivities.
