Deep Violet & Vermilion Red Pure Silk Kanchipuram Rettapet Saree with Horse & Peacock Zari Pallu
Deep Violet & Vermilion Red Pure Silk Kanchipuram Rettapet Saree with Horse & Peacock Zari Pallu
A breathtaking vintage Kanchipuram. Saturated deep violet, brimming with quiet opulence, forms the body, scattered with beautifully spaced traditional zari motifs. Against it, the vermilion-red contrast brings an immediate ceremonial richness.
❖ Handwoven in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu by artisan families whose craft has been passed down for generations, using Silk Mark certified pure silk.
The pallu is the true highlight. A rhythmic array of horses rendered in zari moves across the vermilion silk, each figure held in a poised, forward-stepping stance. Above and between them, richly woven peacock motifs appear in repeated zari panels.
Dense ornamental bands build one after another across the pallu, allowing figurative motifs, floral zari and finely patterned fields to alternate in a composition with remarkable depth.
The restraint of the violet body makes the transformation at the pallu even more dramatic: quiet silk giving way to an extraordinary expanse of gold and vermilion.
For the celebrations ahead
Navaratri and Vijayadashami gatherings, Diwali and Deepavali celebrations, Karthigai Deepam, Margazhi temple and cultural gatherings, ceremonies and winter weddings.
