Deep Violet Pure Silk Kanjivaram Zari Kattam Saree with Burnished Vermilion Sorgavaasal Mayil Border

Deep Violet Pure Silk Kanjivaram Zari Kattam Saree with Burnished Vermilion Sorgavaasal Mayil Border

Deep violet silk with the richness of crushed petals, crossed by hair-fine lines of gold. The Zari Kattam body gives this Kanjivaram a delicate luminosity: from a distance the violet feels almost uninterrupted; closer, the tiny gold grid begins to shimmer.

❖ Handwoven over 16 days in Kanchipuram, this saree carries the patience of artisan families who have woven silk here for generations.

Woven in the Zari Kattam tradition, with a fine gold zari grid across the body and spaced buttas, in pure mulberry silk. A saree of this type represents approximately 16 active days on the loom, although individual weaving time varies. Woven for Idam Living by skilled artisan families in the Kanchipuram district of Tamil Nadu. Read our story.

Then comes the border: warm vermilion, copper-orange and gold, intensely alive against the cooler violet. Across it runs the traditional Sorgavaasal Mayil, peacocks placed within graceful arched frames, woven as a repeating gold zari procession.

The pallu turns fully into that warm burnished palette, with intricate zari geometry and traditional detailing that feels opulent without becoming heavy.

It is particularly beautiful in evening light, when the violet becomes deeper and the orange-red silk appears almost lit from within. Pair with rubies, antique gold, emerald accents, kundan or warm uncut stones. A memorable choice for Navratri evenings, Vijayadashami, Diwali, festive occasions, ceremonies, cultural gatherings and special occasions.

Blouse Piece Included: 0.8m running blouse piece. See our Blouse Stitching Guide.
