Berry Red and Ivory Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram Kanchi Kattam Saree with Forest Green Gold Border
Berry Red and Ivory Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram Kanchi Kattam Saree with Forest Green Gold Border
Like hibiscus petals beside a whitewashed Kanchipuram courtyard, berry-red and ivory checks fall into a measured rhythm of colour. Each square is distinct, yet the silk seems to shift from rose to ruby as the pleats catch the light.
❖ Made to order, not off a shelf. This saree spent roughly 32 active days on the loom, in addition to dyeing, threading and finishing.

Woven in the Kanchi Kattam tradition, the body sets saturated berry red against cool ivory, with dusty-rose passages where the silk threads cross. The checked geometry has a gentle, almost architectural order that becomes especially vivid as the folds gather. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 32 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.
Border: A deep forest-green frame grounds the lively checked body. Across it, old-gold woven zigzags form a broad luminous band, edged with a row of tiny floral forms and a dark green finish, like sunlight finding its way through a shaded garden.
Pallu: The pallu turns quieter and richer in colour, moving into shadowed plum-brown, forest green and an extensive antique-gold woven field. Fine ornamental registers give it texture and depth without competing with the body checks.
Styling: Choose a deep forest-green silk blouse and small antique-gold jhumkas, or keep the blouse ivory for a softer contrast. Gather the checks into crisp front pleats and let the dark, richly woven pallu remain open over the shoulder. Fresh jasmine makes a lovely finishing note.
