Arakku Maroon Lightweight Pure Silk Kanchipuram Silk Thread Kattam Saree with Ivory Gold Border
Arakku Maroon Lightweight Pure Silk Kanchipuram Silk Thread Kattam Saree with Ivory Gold Border
Arakku maroon, deep and quietly beautiful, is one of the most enduring colours in the Kanchipuram silk tradition. Here, its richness is softened by the delicate rhythm of silk-thread kattams, fine golden lines crossing the body in a measured, graceful pattern.
❖ This saree carries 21 days of loom work behind it, handwoven in Kanchipuram by artisan families continuing a generations-old craft with Silk Mark certified pure silk.

The Silk Thread Kattam technique shapes this Kanchipuram in pure mulberry silk, with fine golden checks crossing the Arakku-maroon body. A saree of this type typically represents approximately 21 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. Read our story.
Border: The ivory border brings a wonderful sense of light. A row of muted mauve-grey Thazhampoo Reku forms creates the transition, followed by an intricately woven expanse of gold zari. Traditional geometric ornamentation, with Mayil Kann and Rudraksham Pet-inspired details, lends the border the refinement of old Kanchipuram weaving.
Pallu: Long parallel gold zari bands alternate with slender ivory silk divisions, creating a graceful striped composition reminiscent of the Ilkal pallu aesthetic. Fine gold zari patterning along the lower edge completes the design.
Styling: Style with an ivory silk blouse and traditional gold jewellery, or choose a matching Arakku blouse for a beautifully composed monochromatic look.
