Warm Ivory and Magenta Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjipuram Varisaipet Saree with Peacock Motifs
Warm Ivory and Magenta Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjipuram Varisaipet Saree with Peacock Motifs
The softness of jasmine ivory finds its perfect counterpoint in vivid magenta. A scattering of gold on the body leads into a border of extraordinary detail, with each narrow register revealing another familiar language of Indian weaving.
❖ 16 days of loom work went into this saree, handwoven in Kanchipuram by generations of artisan weaver families using Silk Mark certified pure silk.

This pure mulberry silk Kanjipuram is built on a classic Varisaipet composition, with a warm ivory field delicately scattered with gold peacock motifs and a deep magenta frame that gains its richness from successive rows of design. A saree of this type typically represents approximately 16 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. Read our story.
Border: Layers of gold zari carry Banarasi-inspired leaf ornament alongside elephants, peacocks, Rudraksham beads and the curled rhythm of Neli Kolam. Broad lustrous bands and narrower patterned stripes alternate in a meticulously ordered Varisaipet border.
Pallu: The rich magenta pallu opens into a grand handwoven zari diamond lattice, further detailed with peacock motifs and Malli Moggu bud ornament. Its densely luminous finish is a strong counterpoint to the quiet ivory body.
Styling: Keep the blouse simple in warm ivory silk for a serene look, or use rich magenta with only a tiny gold trim. A pair of antique-gold jhumkas and a loose jasmine-adorned braid echo the pale body and intricate border. An expressive choice for a wedding muhurtham, Deepavali or a family ceremony.
