Pearl Ivory Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjipuram Zari Kattam Saree with Leaf Green Edge

Pearl Ivory Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjipuram Zari Kattam Saree with Leaf Green Edge

Pale as jasmine petals in early morning light, this pearl-ivory Kanjipuram saree is edged with the fresh green of a new leaf. Delicate zari kattam lines run beneath tiny kamalam flowers, and the gold-rich border recalls carved Kanchi temple friezes lit by a gentle sun.

❖ This saree reflects 16 days on the loom and generations of weaving heritage from Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu. Certified pure silk, handwoven by artisan families whose work sustains their village.

Woven in the Zari Kattam tradition, the luminous pearl-ivory body holds a barely raised fine Zari Kattam grid, which glimmers delicately where the gold threads catch the light. Small kamalam buttas are scattered in careful, even intervals, preserving the open, serene quality of the silk. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 16 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.

Border: A detailed gold register brings yaanai elephants, mayil peacocks and vanam-inspired vines into a repeating story. Slender Veldhari stripes below arrange the border in Varisaipet-like horizontal rows; the final fresh leaf-green selvedge offers a crisp, botanical contrast to the ivory.

Pallu: A broad pale-gold zari field carries fine floral and geometric woven patterning, finished with ornamental border registers and orderly lines.

Styling: For a Navaratri golu visit or a Deepavali morning puja, style it with a fresh leaf-green blouse, small pearls and jasmine. For a wedding ceremony, choose an ivory blouse with narrow green piping and warm temple-gold jewellery, allowing the border motifs to provide the detail.

Frequently bought together

How is this ivory Zari Kattam saree different from a plain ivory silk?
Fine gold checks form a delicate grid on the ivory body, and small lotus-shaped kamalam buttas are spaced throughout. The result is more textured and luminous than an uninterrupted plain weave.
What is special about the fresh green edge?
The narrow leaf-green selvedge introduces a cool colour note against the ivory and gold. It resembles the fresh Kanchipuram colour family called thulir pachai, or sprouting-leaf green.
Will the gold border look elaborate even with simple jewellery?
The yaanai, mayil and botanical motifs form an intricate woven frame, so the saree carries considerable detail on its own. Pearl earrings or one pair of gold jhumkas would be enough for a daytime ceremony.
Can Idam Living suggest a matching green blouse design?
Yes. You can request made-to-measure stitching and share green colour references, a preferred neckline, sleeve length and your measurements. A minimal green accent can also be discussed.
Is Fall and Pico included with this saree?
Yes, Fall and Picot finishing is complimentary. The saree also includes a 0.8 m running blouse piece within its total 6.3 m length.
