Fresh Leaf Green Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjeevaram Saree with Rettapet Peacock Border
Fresh Leaf Green Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjeevaram Saree with Rettapet Peacock Border
A green as immediate as the first new leaves after a summer shower, this saree brightens every fold without losing the dignity of Kanchipuram silk. An earthy orange line at the edge feels like the first glow of a lamp against a freshly washed garden.
❖ 18 days of loom work went into this saree, handwoven in Kanchipuram by generations of artisan weaver families using certified pure silk.

The Rettapet border is arranged as two strong gold zari registers enclosing a green silk band. The bright ilai-pachai body is punctuated by widely spaced Mayil Chakram buttas, which give the saturated green a pleasing sense of scale. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 18 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.
Border: Repeated Thogai Mayil plume work runs through the two golden border bands, each edged with fine linear details. A narrow rust-orange selvedge draws a warm final line against the cool green silk and the glowing gold.
Pallu: Long columns of gold appear in the green pallu, some as slender bars and others densely patterned. Their stacked arrangement gives the pallu a ceremonious rhythm, which settles into the repeated gold bands at the hem.
Styling: An orange-rust blouse would echo the selvedge beautifully, while a green blouse would keep the look calm and continuous. Try antique-gold earrings, a simple bangle stack and jasmine for a morning temple visit; a smooth gold blouse could shift it towards a festive evening.
Occasions: A lively choice for Navratri, Vijayadashami, Diwali, temple celebrations and daytime family ceremonies.
